ETHYLENE MOLECULE

Ethylene molecule is formed as a result of sp2 hybridisation of carbon.each carbon atom in excited state undergoes sp2 hybridisation giving rise to three hybrid orbitals each.these hybrid orbitatks lie in in the xy plane while the fourth unhybridized orbital lie at right angle to the hybridized orbitals.in the formation of ethylene two hybrid orbitals i.e. One from each carbon atom form a sigma bond by hed on overlap while the remaining overlap with hydrogen atoms.the unhybridized p-orbitals udergo sidewise overlap to form a pie bond. the molecule of ethylene is planar.

PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT

When light of sufficiently small wavelength is incident on a metal surface,electrons are ejected from the metal,this phenomena is called photoelectric effect.the electrons ejected from the surface of the metal are called photons.there are large no. Of free electrons present in a metal but they are not free to leave the surface of the metal.so a minimum amount of energy i.e. Work function must be given to a electron so as to bring it out of the metal.when a light is incident on a metal surface,the photons collide with the free electrons.in a particualar collison the photon may transfer all its energy to the electron.if this energy is more than the work function the electron may come out of the surface of the electron.and this electron wil have a kinetic energy equal to (energy - work function) or less than it, but it will be never greater than that. in a particular collison it can also happen that even after getting more energy than the work function the elect. May not come out.

MODEM

The modem is a contraction of the term modulator and demodulator.as the name suggests a modem performs functions of both modulator and demodulator. modems are described depending upon their mode of operation.the modems can be used to transmit and retrieve the data in the following three modes: (1.) SIMPLEX MODE- it is mode of using a modem in which data signals can be transmitted b/w the transmitter and the receiver in only one direction. (2.) HALF DUPLEX- it is the mode of using a modem in which data signals can be transmitted b/w the transmitter and the receiver in both the direction at a time. (3.)FULL DUPLEX- it is the mode of using a modem ,in which data signals can be transmitted b/w the transmitter and the receiver in both directions at the same time.

OPTICAL FIBRE

Optical fibre is used to transmit light signals from one place to another without any practical loss in the intensity of the light signal.the optical fibre cable consists of a glass core surrounded by a glass cladding and that again is surrounded by a jacket made up of plastic. The refractive index of glass used for makimg core is a little more than the refractive index of the glass used for making the cladding. the main advantage of the optical fibre is that it can carry light of very high frequency such as 10^12 to 10^16 hz .and consequently a large no. Of messages can be transmitted through a single cable withou any risk of their intermixing.morever due to very little line loss the quantity of reception is vastly superior.there are two types of optical fibre (1)monomode optical fibre (2)multimode optical fibre

The three devices launched by RIM were quite awesome-the bold 9900/9930, torch 9860/9850,torch 9810.all of these have a touchscreen but the bold and torch 9810 have a qwerty keyboard ,which according to me is a great feature.really i donot like typing on a virtval keyboard. It's like a nightmare for me typing on a virtual be it any phone.and these devices also come with new os called os 7 which has fluid graphics(i would like to tel u that fluid graphics is the name patented by rim for fast processing of it's devices). Till date only bold 9900 is being launched in india and at a price around Rs. 32000.overall the bold is a gud option to be bought because it has 4g and NFC technology .with nfc it wil easier to communicate or pair with near devices,u wil just have to tap ur device with other nfc enabled device and ur phone wil get paired no need to search for device.with nfc u can also use bold as ur credit card.
